Q & A's

Everything you wanted to know but were afraid to ask.

Q. If my tree is proctected by a TPO (Tree preservation order) how do I go about contacting the council?
A. You do not need to do anything Broadleaf will enquire if your tree has a TPO on it or if the tree is within a conservation area if this is the case we will contact your local council on your behalf and submit all relevant forms, this will envolve a waiting period of up to 10 weeks while the application is processed broadleaf will even arrange a site meeting with your local tree officer to resolve any difficultys . All of this is carried out with no extra charge it is just part of the service we provide.

Q. When is the best time to trim my tree?
A . The best time to prune your tree depends on the amount of pruning taking place if there is a large amount of foliage being removed it is best done when the tree is dormant During the period between Nov and march if however the tree is for example a Cherry and prone to diseases like silver leaf it is best pruned in high summer when gum deposits help reduce infection.

Q. My tree has been looking unwell for about a year now should I cut it back?
A. Generally it is detrimental to prune a stressed tree as it needs all the energy gaining potential (leaves) it can get. If however you tree looks sick contact Broad leaf at the earliest opportunity and we will come and give you some advice at no charge.
